Reviews about The College & Dufferin Dental Clinic

  • Dr.Abbasi is awsome. I normally have anxiety when even thinking about a check up/cleaning but my husband said his dentist saved his tooth so I came to this place. I love it, the staff is friendly, they have a little nook for kids to read draw etc, the place is clean but most importantly Dr.Abbasi is a good dentist. Hope he stays in the business for a very long time.

If you love excruciating pain and terrible inconveniences, this is the Dentist for you. I made the mistake of having my wisdom teeth removed here and wouldn’t wish it upon my worst enemy. I have never had a surgery before, so I was obviously a little nervous leading up to the extraction date. I called the Dentist’s office earlier that week to ask about the details, as they provided me with none; how long would the procedure take? Can I eat before the surgery? Etc. They said it would take about an hour an assured me I could eat before. On the surgery date, I showed up on time and went right into the Dentist’s chair. He shoved some needles in my gums to freeze my mouth and then went straight at my gums with a scalpel. I squealed with pain and asked “When am I getting the gas? I don’t want to be awake for this.” He said “We have no gas here. You’re fine.” For an hour, he hacked at my gums with a scalpel and pliers; 3 out of the 4 teeth were impacted. It seemed like his ‘dental assistant’ should have been wearing a Trainee badge, as she kept bringing in the wrong equipment and faced constant scoldings. I was audibly and visibly in discomfort and he kept asking me if I was in pain, to which I answered “YES!” He would just shove more freezing needles into my gums and keep at it. After an hour of the above, the “Doctor” wrote me a prescription for Tylenol 3s and some Antibiotics to prevent infection. English wasn’t his first language, and he could barely explain the dosage and care instructions. I got home and took some of the Tylenol 3’s, but they didn’t help with the pain at all. I was in excruciating pain all evening, and went above the recommended dosage, but it still didn’t help. The next day, I returned to the clinic to try and get a stronger pain medication with an extremely swollen throat and jaw. A different “Doctor” prescribed me Perkodan, a stronger pain killer. After trying 2 different pharmacies, I popped into Shoppers Drug Mart and they confirmed that they had the right medication. The “Doctor” forgot to write down my health card information on the prescription form – for the second time in 2 days. After a few calls and faxes between the Pharmacy and the Dental Clinic, the Pharmacist tells me that they can’t issue me the Perkodan prescription because the Dental Clinic’s license is showing up as ‘suspended’. They tried to contact the College of Dental Surgeons to confirm, but it was Saturday and the place was closed. After an hour and half of wallowing in the Pharmacy in intense pain, they finally issue me a prescription – for extra strength Ibuprofen. So not only do they not use any gas to knock their patients out for surgeries, they also can’t write a proper prescription to save their lives. I’m still in pain with 2 useless prescriptions and a face the size of a football. Don’t waste your hard-earned money with this mismanaged bunch of hack Doctors and dental assistants who can’t properly communicate in English. This place is a joke.
