Reviews about McLean Animal Hospital

  • I brought my dog in to be assessed as he is getting older and a bit slower. I was very impressed with his care. The veterinarian took her time and thoroughly examined him. We put him on some food for older dogs and also some daily supplements. They suggested that we send out some blood to the lab and I am happy I did. He has early kidney disease and I am able to help this because they saw it early. That is great! Duke is so important to us and we want to keep him in our family for a long time!

We brought our beloved cat into this place because she was wheezing. She was diagnosed by the vet there as having a "lysine deficiency". We were prescribed a lysine supplement in powdered form to add to her food. The cost of that small container of powder was $40. The following day I had a discussion with my pharmacist. He showed me a container of lysine supplement in powder form that was twice the size of the one the vet gave us, with a cost of $8. Two weeks later, our cat was getting worse. We decided to take her to another vet, where she was diagnosed with pleurisy due to a bacterial infection that she would have survived had it been diagnosed and treated properly. Because it had gotten so bad and was no longer treatable, we were forced to put her down. Fast forward. We discovered a large growth on our dog's eyelid. Stupid us, we decided to rush her into Maclean to be looked at, as she seemed quite distressed. When we arrived, the waiting room was empty. There appeared to be some sort of celebration going on in the back. This was on a weekday during business hours. I told the receptionist what was going on and she said I would have to wait at least a half hour, as the staff were busy having a meeting. It sounded more like a party. I walked out in disgust, and should have known better than to go there to begin with. Lesson learned. If you value your money or your pets' health, look elsewhere for care. In my opinion, this place is about charging ridiculous fees and amounts for care and do so only at their own convenience. We'll never set foot in the place again.

This is the worst clinic on this earth. They have random students doing things without supervision that the vet should be doing. My furbaby had blood taken and no gloves were worn by the tech. Then she was spayed and I was told that I could pick my baby up. Now she has an infection and internal bleeding! THIS PLACE IS GARBAGE. BE WARNED. THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT AND WILL HAVE YOU HARM YOUR BABY. This place is absolute trash. The WORST of the worst. These reviews are absolute BS.

  • The staff are amazing here! So polite and nice! The price of the food I order for my dog is a better price than where I have always gone before so I've switched and now come here. If I forget to ask them to reorder, they always remember to call me and ask if I'd like them to order it. With lots of things going on, they still remember to do the little things which makes a big difference!

  • I have only been here once so far as I had a little worry regarding my pup's temperature.. Everyone in the facility was very nice and helpful. They did not push me seeing the Dr. and Nancy, who checked over my dog did her best to reassure me he was fine. Today I received a follow up phone call which was completely unexpected. They clearly care for our pets well being here.. it's making me consider making them my home vet.
