  I have been going to Dr. Lai for years now and every time I walk through the door I am greeted by friendly smiles from all the staff and never have a long wait until I am seen. Dr. Lai is always cheerful and professional and takes his time to check me out after my cleanings. I recommend Dr. Lai to anyone looking for a great dentist!!

  It was the worst experience of my life and I am still dealing with the repercussions. I went in for a wisdom tooth extraction in September of 2015. Not only did he not remove all the teeth but he did not do a CT to prep for the removal of a difficult tooth. He ended up leaving a piece of the tooth in my mouth and causing great nerve damage. It has been over 6 months and now I have pain all through my left side of my neck back shoulder and head . I have been to the hospital twice and have been prescribed all different kinds of pain medication. I have to see all kinds of specialists and today I was told that the piece of tooth that was left is possibly causing residual nerve damage and I may have to get surgery to have it taken out. I still have no feeling on the left side of my lips and gums. I was awake during this entire surgery and my mouth was open for hours and he only got 1.5 of 4 of the teeth, having my mouth open for that long caused severe damage to my jaw muscles. To this he suggested I stop chewing gum eating hard food opening my mouth wide, yawning and laughing for 3 months that was his idea of "post surgery care". Every dentist and specialist I have been to since this awful experience has told me that the way the specific tooth was positioned he should have never gone after it. Especially without doing a CT first to plan accordingly . His poor judgment and inexperience in my opinion has left me in constant pain and I now have to deal with missing school and work to see specialists and get treatments that i pay out of pocket for. Dr. Lai's office has not contacted me in months to follow up even though they are aware that the extraction went horribly wrong. I am only 23 years old and I am now having to deal with all these medical issues that I never had. For years his office in my opinion harrased me telling me that I had to get my wisdom teeth out even though they were below the gums and were not causing a problem and I trusted them and if you ask me, they failed. I suggest you DO NOT let Dr. Richard Lai perform your wisdom teeth extraction. Go to an oral surgeon as they are trained and more equipped to handle this procedure correctly. I will never step foot in that office again. I think its sad that they used to call me all the time to tell me that I needed to book my surgery for over 2 years and now that I actually did it and it went wrong I haven't heard from them in a while, seems to me they just wanted the money, But that's just my opinion. I am not trying to slander anyone or discourage anyone I just know how difficult it is for me and how much my life has been impacted by this experience and I wouldn't want anyone to have to go through the same thing. Also I hope Dr. Lai takes better precaution with his future extractions.
